The Role: Manage the overall Purchasing activity for Custom Pump Operations and meet our divisional requirement of the best purchased value, including quality, delivery, and cost.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

  • Mentor and lead a team of planning, logistics and purchasing professionals
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Xylem’s key supply partners, taking an active role in key supplier developments, site based sourcing requirements, and negotiations.
  • Assess, manage, and mitigate risks; act with sense of urgency to mitigate potential supply disruptions.
  • Hold supply base accountable for quality, delivery, and cost deliverables; driving root cause identification and corrective actions to address deficiencies.
  • In partnership with the Category Management team, drive compliance to Category Strategies and create synergies which leverage opportunities aligned with Xylem’s customer and market needs.
  • Manage current procurement policies, procedures, and programs and identify areas for improvement to enhance organizational value and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross functional groups and leaders to achieve dept, site, and divisional objectives.
  • Identify and implement process improvements through the use of continuous improvement tools and techniques.
  • Prepare for and present regular business reviews to senior leadership team.
  • Define, document, and communicate site level requirements to suppliers and global supply chain teams.
  • Tactical buying and execution as required to support team.
  • Develop and maintain KPIs to meet or exceed target: supplier OTD, OTP, PPM, lead-time reduction, pay term extension, and Net Cost Reduction, PPV.
  • Other duties and Projects as assigned.
  • Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Intermediate level user of Microsoft Office products- Excel, Word, Power point.
  • Working knowledge of MRP.
  • Advanced negotiation skills.
  • Materials and manufacturing knowledge.
  • Strong knowledge of Supplier processes desired.
  • 8-10 years in Purchasing or Materials related profession.
  • BS or BA degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Engineering, or other technical discipline.
  • CPM/CPSM and/or CPIM certifications desired.
