Job Summary
Catering Sales Coordinator for 20 I 20 Catering is responsible for the planning and management of all the needs of events and catering services at UW-Milwaukee. Under general supervision of the Catering Director, the incumbent of this position will provide direct support to clients, from initial contact, to advance planning, to day-of event execution.
This position is responsible for providing excellent customer service by advising and communicating with clients in a timely and effective manner. This includes meeting with clients to determine the catering needs, purpose, and requirements, assistance with menu creation, providing suggestions for alternate ideas or menus as needed to comply with dietary restrictions, determining appropriate portions and amounts of food based on number of attendees, and working around clients’ budgetary restrictions. The incumbent may also need to coordinate with third party vendors to ensure that inventory needs are met. The incumbent will oversee all catered events as well as catering staff by ensuring that all food and supply needs can be met for each event, food orders are processed and arrive on time for events, decor and equipment are set up and taken down properly, and all events run smooth and efficiently.
$42,000 and 50,000 per year, but the final salary offer will be contingent upon the knowledge, skills, and abilities demonstrated throughout the selection process.
Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in catering, event planning or event supervision.
- Previous customer service in a sales
- Two or more years work experience in an office environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Evidence of strong communication skills
- Demonstrated ability of working independently, without continuous supervision, in a hospitality environment
- Demonstrated experience with staff training, assigning tasks and employee development
- Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PPT)
- Demonstrated experience using computerized ordering, inventory and billing systems such as Food Service Suite {FSS) and Event Management System (EMS), or similar
- Demonstrated experience working in a higher education setting. Further experience working in a higher education setting in a food or similar area is strongly preferred
- Associate degree or higher in Business Management, Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts, or related field
- SERV Safe Sanitation Certification or equivalent
